We are Chuck and Sharon Lasker and we’re thrilled to share our epic adventure! We’ve stored all of our belongings and set off on an extended road trip across North America, staying in hotels. We’re experiencing beautiful landscapes, charming towns, and awesome cities.

We are documenting our journey through this blog, sharing insider tips, recommendations, and insights into the places we visit. We’re exploring everything North America has to offer, from the cool waters of Virginia Beach to the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

We have no itinerary. We’re choosing each destination a week at a time. We’ve visited national parks, historic landmarks, and hidden gems.

Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or someone dreaming of a future adventure, we hope our blog will inspire you to explore the many wonders of North America. Follow along as we share our journey and uncover all the amazing things this incredible continent has to offer!

Lake George, New York

Lake George, New York

After Rhode Island, we drove to Albany to stay for a week. But the hotel was terrible, so we drove to a new hotel in Lake George. It was rainy the whole time, and the smoke from Canada was so strong it was hard to see mountains nearby. So we only got a few pics. Most...

Massachusetts

Massachusetts

From New Jersey, we drove to Acton, Massachusetts. Why Acton? Because that's where my brother and sister-in-law live. It has been more than a decade since we've seen each other. So we spent almost two weeks there. We visited historic Concord, historic Salem, and...

Rhode Island

Rhode Island

After our New Jersey stay (NYC and Philadelphia), we spent 2 weeks visiting family in Massachusetts. We did a lot during that time, so it's taking me a long time to curate and edit photos. In the mean time, our next destination was Rhode Island. Rhode Island is one of...

Philadelphia

Philadelphia

It's been a while since I've posted a travel update. We stopped by my brother's house for a couple weeks and got lazy. After New York City, we visited Philadelphia. It was an extremely hot day, but sunny. We found Philly quite difficult to drive around in. If we had...

The Pantry

The Pantry

A Volkswagen Tiguan is not a large vehicle. We had to make many tough choices selecting what we were going to take with us for a one year journey. Then we needed to consider whether we wanted to take everything into and out of our hotel rooms every stay. Is there...

New York City

New York City

The last we visited New York City was a couple years after 9/11. Back then, there were heavily-armored cops on every corner. With this trip, we didn't notice any police other than traffic cops. I did a good bit of research on how to get to the city without driving...

Patience

Patience

It's been a little more than a month on the road, staying in hotels. We've been in eight hotels, counting two where we spent only one night and left because they were terrible. We're learning a lot about #hotellife. Mostly, we're learning to be patient. With limited...

Washington DC

Washington DC

Washington, DC. We could have spent a week or more visiting museums and historic sites. Instead, we took one day and did a "hop on hop off" bus tour. With me working, still, it's hard to find time to do fun stuff at each destination without staying for two or more...

Town of Occoquan

Town of Occoquan

Normally I would save this little visit for a longer post about the area we're in now. However, this little town was so perfect, so quaint, so beautiful, I had to give it its own post. We stumbled upon Occoquan. We did a search for "historic near me" in Google, and it...
