Rhode Island

Jul 3, 2023

After our New Jersey stay (NYC and Philadelphia), we spent 2 weeks visiting family in Massachusetts. We did a lot during that time, so it’s taking me a long time to curate and edit photos. In the mean time, our next destination was Rhode Island.

Rhode Island is one of those states we don’t think a lot about. It’s small and there isn’t a lot of marketing done for tourism. Honestly, we didn’t know what to expect.

Turns out Rhode Island is beautiful and interesting. We could see ourselves living in Rhode Island. The roads in Providence were terrible, and it’s quite difficult to get around the city. Still, we loved it.

We stayed east of Providence, in Seekonk, Massachusetts. We spent a day in Newport, one of the most beautiful towns in America. Here are some pics.

Here’s a tip if you’re ever going to Newport, Rhode Island – you can park for $5 for a whole day, compared to the very expensive parking lots. The way is to park in the parking garage at the trolley (Newport Transportation Center). Then, take the Bellevue Trolley #67. When you get off the trolley, ask for a receipt, which you can provide when leaving the parking garage. Parking is then five bucks!

Additionally, the trolley is a wonderful way to get a feel of the whole area. It takes 40 minutes to do the whole route. You can get off and back on at any stop, with about 20 minutes between trolleys. So much better than trying to drive in the usual heavy traffic. Check out the map, above.

Thanks again for following our adventures!
