Washington DC
Washington, DC. We could have spent a week or more visiting museums and historic sites. Instead, we took one day and did a “hop on hop off” bus tour. With me working, still, it’s hard to find time to do fun stuff at each destination without staying for two or more weeks.
We did the bus tour with Big Bus Tours. It was a lot of fun at first. At each stop, you can get off and visit sites, then get back on when the next Big Bus came by. It stated 15-20 minutes between buses.
At the Capitol, we returned to the pickup location within 15 minutes because it was getting late. The Capitol building was under renovation, anyway, so no reason to stay long.
Well, the bus doesn’t come. And doesn’t come. It was 45 minutes, so we were just sitting around for half hour waiting, not able to do anything because we didn’t know when the bus would return. There was no phone number to call, no way to find out what was going on. When it finally came, no apology, no acknowledgement that they screwed up. This particular bus had broken shocks, too, making the next legs unpleasant. So we won’t be using them in any of the other locations they serve.
