The Pantry

A Volkswagen Tiguan is not a large vehicle. We had to make many tough choices selecting what we were going to take with us for a one year journey. Then we needed to consider whether we wanted to take everything into and out of our hotel rooms every stay. Is there anything we can leave in the car?

At the same time, we were evaluating the consumables we use often, thinking about how often, and how much to take with us. We definitely didn’t want six extra deodorants. Large shampoo bottles? How much over the counter meds should we take?

So Sharon came up with The Pantry.

The Pantry is a large bag to put everything in we won’t need every day, but is available when we need it. We can pack small amounts of consumables to take in and out of every hotel room, and leave The Pantry in the car.

Our Pantry has

• Extra deodorants
• Chip’s monthly meds
• First aid items
• Over the counter medicines (cold, allergy)
• Extra supplements
• Large soap bottles
• Large shampoo bottles
• Extra mouthwash
• Extra toothpaste
• Extra toothbrushes
• Sunscreen and aloe for sunburns
• Extra Ziplocs
• Sewing kit

It’s large, which means it holds a lot of stuff that doesn’t have to be brought in and out of our hotel rooms at every destination.
