Time Saving Device
Any opportunity to avoid delays while traveling is a joy. We have an item that has saved us time while driving, and we already had it in our car.
It’s an “NC Quick Pass Flex transponder,” a device stuck to our windshield that tells North Carolina when we drive on the express lanes on I-77. It allows us to bypass traffic in special lanes by deducting a fee from a prefunded account when the transponder passes a detector.
So how does a North Carolina express lane device help with travel? Because it works in 19 states. All along our trip when we hit tolls, we’ve been able to just drive by, without stopping at the toll booths. There can be lines of cars backed up, and we can blast by without slowing down.
We almost sent the transponder back when we decided to travel. We had a balance of maybe eight dollars. There was no way I would allow North Carolina keep my money. Researching refunds, I found this page, which describes the 19 state functionality.
A game changer! So we kept the transponder on our windshield.
If you live in any of the 19 states, you, too, can get an EZPass transponder so you can travel through any of the states without stopping to pay tolls.

It’s such a game changer, I almost don’t think about the $207.85 we’ve paid in 37 tolls already in 2 1/2 months.
