Day One – A Day of Rest
We made our final trip to Goodwill, as well as one final trip to the public trash bins at the park nearby. We placed the last of our possessions into our 10’x15′ storage unit, so tight nothing else would fit if we wanted it to. We packed our car and finished the final cleaning of our rental house.
Speaking about packing the car… Since this is our first year-long road trip, we didn’t know for sure what to pack. We only knew that back of the VW Tiguan was not huge. We tried to plan in our heads, and, with some sacrifice, we were able to get the car packed to the gills. We need to cut back a good bit if we’re going to survive this.
Day one in our first destination – Greenville, South Carolina. What? Not the tourist destination you expected? Well, it’s near where Sharon grew up, there are huge waterfalls, and we’re close to Sharon’s family grave plots for a quick visit before leaving again for a long time.
What are we doing on our first day? Resting! The last couple weeks have been insanely difficult and tiring. We’re hanging out in our hotel room, except for running to Long John’s Silver’s for lunch and nostalgic enjoyment.
We’re in Greenville for 4 nights, then leaving on Friday to check out the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia for almost a week. We’ll explain more why there, later.
Now we’re going to sit down and decide what else to do around here the next few days. We’ll leave you with our hotel view:
Thank you for following our adventures!
